Monarch Baseball Club Office

From the 1981 Survey of the 18th and Vine District, “This commercial building has house a number of tenants over the years. The earliest known occupant (1906) was the John Schell Grocery. The office of the Monarch Baseball Club, a Black team, was located here in 1930. The White Star Market was also a long term tenant.”

This was also the home of Cardinal Liquor Store listed in the Green Book.

The building was listed on the Kansas City Register of Historic Places as part of the 18th & Vine Historic District on 8/11/1983 and on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the 18th & Vine Historic District on 9/9/1991.
