African American Heritage TrAil

of Kansas City, MO

welcome

Welcome to the African American Heritage Trail of Kansas City, MO. The Trail is “virtual,” as the number and land area of sites along the Trail are too large to walk. However, maps will guide you to neighborhoods and clusters of sites where you can create your own Trail experience.

The African American Heritage Trail of Kansas City, Mo has been driven by community input and will continue to grow in size and scope. Please check back often as we will be adding more sites and people regularly, as the African American History of Kansas City is rich, deep, and significant to growth of the community.

We welcome your feedback, input and stories. Click on the SHARE link to see how you can contribute your time, talent and treasure to the Trail.

“Learn your history. It’s a wonderful history. SO many wonderful things have happened in the last 100 years. We have come so far. We still have a ways to go, but that’s your job, you and your children and their children. We will get there. I know it.”

— John Jordan “Buck” O’Neil
