Eisen clothing store

1501 E. 18th Street (demolished)

Eisen clothing store

The building was constructed in 1952 for the Eisen Clothing Store, a second-hand clothing store.  The store was owned by Issie and Sophie Eisen, who emigrated here from Poland.  The Eisens ran the store until 1970, when they retired and closed the store.  After Eisen’s closed, it was used by various other tenants including Echo Press and Rimson Contractors. The building was also vacant at times until 1991 when it was renovated to house the Black Chamber of Commerce. The building was ultimately demolished in 2016.
